The person behind the champion

A story to start with

All who know the name Medarda respect and fear the family's leader, Ambessa. As a Noxian general, she embodies a deadly combination of ruthless strength and fearless resolve in battle. Her role as matriarch is no different, requiring great cunning to empower the Medardas while leaving no room for failure or compassion. Embracing the merciless ways of the Wolf, Ambessa will do whatever it takes to protect her family's legacy, even at the cost of her own children's love.

Short biography by Riot Games · Data Dragon 16.20.1

What shapes their story?

Ambessa's overview places family survival beside military severity. Her legacy therefore has two audiences: the enemies she intends to deter and the children who must live with the sacrifices she considers necessary for their protection.

Family protection through ruthless strength
She embraces ruthless strength and demands the same resolve from those around her. Protecting the family can therefore mean making choices that damage her relationships with her own children.

The price of a Medarda legacy
Ambessa's public overview presents family survival as the purpose behind her severity. That purpose does not guarantee agreement from her children. Her story asks how far a general can push the people she claims to protect before protection becomes another form of control.

Where the stories come from

VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

What the pictures show

Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.
