The person behind the champion

A story to start with

Decisive in judgment and lethal in combat, Katarina is a Noxian assassin of the highest caliber. Eldest daughter to the legendary General Du Couteau, she made her talents known with swift kills against unsuspecting enemies. Her fiery ambition has driven her to pursue heavily-guarded targets, even at the risk of endangering her allies—but no matter the mission, Katarina will not hesitate to execute her duty amid a whirlwind of serrated daggers.

Short biography by Riot Games · Data Dragon 16.20.1

What shapes their story?

Expectations from her father make failure a question of identity as well as competence. Katarina's choices test whether serving Noxus means following an inherited judgement or learning to decide what duty requires when that judgement proves incomplete.

Excellence demanded by General Du Couteau

Katarina's upbringing in the Du Couteau family made excellence a demand rather than a casual ambition. Her father's reputation gave her both an example and a difficult standard to surpass.

    Ambition tests discipline and judgement

Skill as an assassin does not erase her impatience to prove herself. Pursuing a prestigious target can conflict with the discipline and judgement that a mission actually requires.

Skill must answer for a decision

Katarina's desire for a significant target once led her away from the mission she was assigned, with disastrous consequences. Proving herself therefore requires more than another impressive kill. The family's demanding standard tests whether she can place judgement alongside pride and technical brilliance.

Where the stories come from

VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

What the pictures show

Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.

A world still being written

Older biographies and newer adaptations can differ. These guides introduce connections rather than declaring a final chronology or a character's current whereabouts. Translations help you explore and may keep original proper names. Follow the official sources for full context.
