Arrr, The person behind the champion

Arrr, A story to start with

Arrr, A massive creature of living stone, Malphite struggles to impose blessed order on a chaotic world. Birthed as a servitor-shard to an otherworldly obelisk known as the Monolith, he used his tremendous elemental strength to maintain and protect his progenitor, but ultimately failed. The only survivor of the destruction that followed, Malphite now endures Runeterra's soft folk and their fluid temperaments, while struggling to find a new role worthy of the last of his kind.

Arrr, Short biography by Riot Games · Data Dragon 16.20.1

Arrr, What shapes their story?

Arrr, A fragment of an immense creation carries a purpose larger than its surviving form. Malphite's persistence against the Void joins endurance to loss, leaving a guardian whose identity comes partly from something that can no longer be whole.

Arrr, A shard of the ancient Monolith

Arrr, Malphite survives as a shard of the Monolith, a vast creation made to oppose the Void. His beginning connects elemental ingenuity in ancient Ixtal with the catastrophe spreading from Icathia.

Arrr, Awakening after the greater whole is destroyed

Arrr, The destruction of that greater whole left its surviving fragment to awaken alone. Protecting a progenitor gave way to finding a purpose in a world of fragile, short-lived beings.

  3. The Fall of IcathiaArrr, Riot Games · World artwork

Arrr, A fragment seeks a purpose beyond survival

Arrr, Without the Monolith around him, Malphite encounters lives far shorter and more fragile than his own. Defending the world from the Void preserves something of his original purpose. Understanding the beings within that world is a different challenge from surviving the destruction of his progenitor.

Arrr, More about the region

Arrr, A secluded civilisation whose elemental magic keeps outsiders at a distance. Behind the wilderness is a sophisticated society shaped by inherited knowledge, exacting trials and the authority of the Yun Tal.

Arrr, Ruined homeland

Icathia

Arrr, Icathia's rebellion against Shurima unleashed the Void and destroyed the land its people hoped to free. Jax and Zilean preserve very different responses to that loss; other champions connect to the breach, the war or its aftermath.

Arrr, What makes this place matter?

Arrr, Ixtal's apparent wilderness conceals a sophisticated elemental civilisation. Ixaocan and the Yun Tal offer a starting point for its institutions, while champions from the surrounding jungle reveal lives outside that ruling structure. These connections do not make every jungle inhabitant a citizen of the city.

Arrr, Where the stories come from

Arrr, VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

Arrr, What the pictures show

Arrr, Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.

Arrr, A world still being written

Arrr, Older biographies and newer adaptations can differ. These guides introduce connections rather than declaring a final chronology or a character's current whereabouts. Translations help you explore and may keep original proper names. Follow the official sources for full context.
