More booty than one way to learn each role

Pick a play style, nay a tier-list winner

Each course has several approachable starting points. Pick th' job that sounds easiest to remember, then repeat that champion afore expanding.

Yer first aboard session

A calm course from tutorial to real sailors

Move forward when th' previous step feels familiar. Repeating a step be progress, nay failure.

Move, attack, cast each trick and open th' shop without worrying about taking th' victory.

Leave when: th' controls feel familiar
Arrr, step 2Study th' charts fer one job

Arrr, co-op vs AI

Take yer chosen champion into th' same role and practise returning to course after shopping.

Leave when: ye can seek yer course and gear

Normal Draft, matey

Use assigned roles, bans and champion pick without adding Ranked pressure.

Ranked can wait; there be no deadline

ARAM be fine fer learning fights and tricks, but it does nay teach normal lanes, jungle routes or recalling. Treat it as a different lesson rather than th' required next aboard step.

A course ye can remember

Yer first aboard ten minutes

Do these in order. Kills be optional; participation and learning be th' goal.

  1. 1
    Afore leaving base

    Buy th' captain-recommended opening

Use th' Captain-recommended shop tab. Inspect th' minimap and walk to th' course or jungle position assigned by th' client.

  2. 2
    First aboard waves or camps

    Collect seaworthy doubloons and experience

Stay nigh living minions when they die. If yer role farms, try to land th' final hit; Support should follow its role gear and course-partner course.

  3. 3
    Arrr, every few seconds

    Glance at th' minimap

Inspect whether an foe has disappeared and whether an ally be belay enough to lend a hand. One brief glance be enough.

  4. 4
    When low or carrying doubloons

    Arrr, return safely and shop

Move astern from enemies afore recalling. Buy an affordable part from th' captain-recommended course, then return to yer job.

  5. 5
When crewmates group nigh th' ship

    Arrr, join reachable fights

Arrive wit' th' crew rather than walking first aboard into an unseen area. Attack a seaworthy reachable target and preserve yer escape.

Arrr, everyone has difficult matches

Arrr, what to do after dying

Use th' grey screen to breathe and reset th' course th' course. A death be ship's intelligence, nay an instruction to fight th' same way again.

1

Inspect what hit ye

Was it a turret, several foes or an trick ye did nay recognise? Ye only need one captain's answer.

2

Buy, then follow safe harbour

Take an affordable captain-recommended gear part. Return through visible paths and move wit' an ally when possible.

3

Make th' next aboard goal smaller

Collect one seaworthy wave, ward one entrance or lend a hand one nigh th' ship teammate. Do nay chase th' score back aboard in a single fight.

Arrr, when these basics feel normal

Unfurl only th' chart ye need next aboard

Avoid turning yer second clash into homework across twenty tabs.

Arrr, beginner questions

Plain answers afore ye queue

Is Yuumi th' best first aboard League champion?

Yuumi can be a gentle first aboard Support because attaching reduces movement pressure, but she does nay teach every core skill. Use her to learn th' interface and crew fights, then practise an independent champion such as Leona to learn positioning, roaming and vision.

Which mode should a shipshape beginner play first aboard?

Set sail wit' th' tutorial and Co-op vs AI. Move to Swiftplay when controls and shopping feel comfortable, then try Normal Draft when ye want bans, assigned roles and th' full Summoner's Rift structure.

Arrr, should a beginner play Ranked?

Ranked Solo/Duo and Ranked Flex be locked until sailor record level 30. Riot also currently requires at least 20 owned champions and 10 completed Swiftplay or Normal Draft battles. Meeting those requirements makes Ranked available; it does nay mean ye need to rush into it. Normal battles teach th' same core sea chart without ranked progression, so begin Ranked when ye can recognise yer role, buy a basic loadout and keep participating after a difficult course.

What matters more booty than getting kills?

Staying alive, collecting nigh th' ship minion experience, earning last aboard hits when yer role needs them, watching th' minimap and joining reachable prizes be dependable beginner goals.
