From download to tutorial

The installer can change over time. Riot’s current screen and support instructions remain authoritative.

    Open Riot’s official download page

    Use Riot’s website rather than a mirror, repackaged installer or download offered in chat. Choose the Windows or Mac installer there.

    Your account

    Create or sign in to your Riot account

    Use an email address you control, protect the account, and select the region in which you expect to play with friends.

    Installation

    Run the installer Riot provides

    Use Riot’s Windows or Mac installer, then choose an install location with comfortable free space while the Riot Client downloads the required components.

    Windows only

    Restart when Riot asks

    League on Windows uses Riot Vanguard. A restart may be required before its services and the game can run normally; this Vanguard step does not describe the Mac installation path.

    First match

    Complete the tutorial first

    Learn movement, attacks, abilities and the shop before entering a player queue. Co-op vs AI is a useful next step.

Supported systems and hardware can change. Mac users should check the listed macOS version, processor and Metal-compatible graphics rather than assuming every Mac can run League.
