The person behind the champion

A story to start with

The eccentric Professor Cecil B. Heimerdinger is one of the most innovative and esteemed inventors the world has ever known. As the longest serving member of the Council of Piltover, he saw the best and the worst of the city's unending desire for progress. Nonetheless, this brilliant scientist and teacher will always remain dedicated to using his unconventional devices to improve the lives of others.

Short biography by Riot Games · Data Dragon 16.20.1

What shapes their story?

A long life of invention changes the relationship between curiosity and consequence. Heimerdinger's delight in possibility remains central, while the people living with discoveries give that curiosity responsibilities beyond the workshop and the inventor's own excitement.

    A long-lived inventor and teacher

Heimerdinger's long life gives him a perspective on invention that most Piltover citizens cannot share. Scientific curiosity and teaching remain central to how he understands progress.

    Experience reveals discovery's dangers

Experience has also shown him that discovery can produce harm as well as opportunity. His unconventional machines belong to an effort to improve people's lives rather than merely accumulate prestige.

Teaching progress to look beyond the invention

Heimerdinger's enthusiasm for discovery exists beside the perspective of an unusually long life. A successful machine does not settle how it should be used. Reading the older biographies alongside newer twin-city stories helps separate that continuing concern from changes in the details of his role.

Working together on a solution

Ekko

Riot's Arcane character guide describes Heimerdinger moving beyond advice to work alongside Ekko. Their partnership joins an inventor's long experience to a younger community leader's determination to find a solution.

A shared inventive setting

Corki

Corki's biography places Heimerdinger among the yordles who brought scientific enthusiasm to Piltover. This establishes their shared inventive circle, rather than authorship of every machine Corki flies.

An inventor's ambitions and an academy's limits

Ziggs

Ziggs admired Heimerdinger's reputation and pursued recognition in Piltover's scientific world. His taste for explosive experimentation made that institutional setting increasingly difficult to accept.

Connections describe the linked official stories. A shared history does not establish a current alliance or location.

The story beneath the scenery

What makes this place matter?

Trade brings wealth and invention to Piltover, but access to opportunity is uneven. Its polished architecture makes more sense alongside Zaun's workshops and hazardous streets. Read both cities together to understand why progress can be a promise for one person and a burden for another.

Where the stories come from

VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

What the pictures show

Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.
