The person behind the champion

A story to start with

A headstrong young vastaya of the seas, Nami was the first of the Marai tribe to leave the waves and venture onto dry land, when their ancient accord with the Targonians was broken. With no other option, she took it upon herself to complete the sacred ritual that would ensure the safety of her people. Amidst the chaos of this new age, Nami faces an uncertain future with grit and determination, using her Tidecaller staff to summon the strength of the oceans themselves.

Short biography by Riot Games · Data Dragon 16.20.1

What shapes their story?

Nami carries a community's need into a search that cannot be completed through courage alone. The connection between her ocean home and Targon's moon-linked power makes the journey a responsibility extending beyond the places she personally knows.

    An exchange protects the Marai

Nami's Marai people live in the sea west of Mount Targon, relying on an ancient exchange to keep a threat from the depths at bay. The arrangement makes a distant celestial power essential to their safety.

A missing moonstone requires a journey onto land

When the exchange fails, Nami takes responsibility for obtaining a new moonstone. Finding that the moon's Aspect has left Targon turns a difficult ritual into an open-ended search on unfamiliar dry land.

  3. The SolariRiot Games · Regional world artwork

A failed exchange becomes a journey

Finding the Aspect of the Moon absent from Targon leaves Nami without the expected answer to her people's danger. She must learn an unfamiliar world while carrying their need for a moonstone. The quest establishes a connection to the mountain, not a claim that she lives there.

More about the region

Runeterra's immense mountain draws pilgrims toward an almost impossible summit. The Rakkor, Solari and Lunari live beneath celestial powers whose influence can transform a mortal life.

Mountain

Mount Targon

Reaching the summit is a spiritual ordeal as well as a dangerous climb. Some survivors return changed by an Aspect; the lower slopes remain home to migrating Rakkor communities.

The story beneath the scenery

What makes this place matter?

The mountain is both a physical home and a meeting point with celestial powers. Rakkor communities live on its slopes, while Solari and Lunari traditions shape different understandings of the heavens. The stories of Leona, Diana and Pantheon show the personal cost of those beliefs.

Where the stories come from

VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

What the pictures show

Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.
