The person behind the champion

A story to start with

Taric is the Aspect of the Protector, wielding incredible power as Runeterra's guardian of life, love, and beauty. Shamed by a dereliction of duty and exiled from his homeland Demacia, Taric ascended Mount Targon to find redemption, only to discover a higher calling among the stars. Imbued with the might of ancient Targon, the Shield of Valoran now stands ever vigilant against the insidious corruption of the Void.

Short biography by Riot Games · Data Dragon 16.20.1

What shapes their story?

Exile changes the setting of Taric's duty without removing his ability to care. The ascent transforms a failed Demacian soldier's future, making celestial protection grow from a mortal history that already complicated what service was supposed to mean.

An ascent reveals the Protector's calling

The ascent revealed a calling broader than the service he had lost. Becoming the Protector gave his appreciation of life and beauty a celestial responsibility rather than treating those values as distractions.

Redemption becomes protection beyond one kingdom

The mountain gives Taric a responsibility broader than the military duty he failed in Demacia. His appreciation of beauty and fragile life becomes central to that calling. Redemption is expressed through the people and places he now protects, rather than the recovery of his former rank.

The story beneath the scenery

What makes this place matter?

Demacia's petricite is more than a building material: it reflects a kingdom shaped by fear of uncontrolled magic. Lux's hidden gifts, Sylas's imprisonment and Galio's awakening offer very different ways into that conflict. Reading them together makes the capital's protective walls feel less straightforward.

The story beneath the scenery

What makes this place matter?

The mountain is both a physical home and a meeting point with celestial powers. Rakkor communities live on its slopes, while Solari and Lunari traditions shape different understandings of the heavens. The stories of Leona, Diana and Pantheon show the personal cost of those beliefs.

Where the stories come from

VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

What the pictures show

Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.

A world still being written

Older biographies and newer adaptations can differ. These guides introduce connections rather than declaring a final chronology or a character's current whereabouts. Translations help you explore and may keep original proper names. Follow the official sources for full context.
