The person behind the champion

A story to start with

Born in an ancient, sorcerous catastrophe, Zyra is the wrath of nature given form—an alluring hybrid of plant and human, kindling new life with every step. She views the many mortals of Valoran as little more than prey for her seeded progeny, and thinks nothing of slaying them with flurries of deadly spines. Though her true purpose has not been revealed, Zyra wanders the world, indulging her most primal urges to colonize, and strangle all other life from it.

Short biography by Riot Games · Data Dragon 16.20.1

What shapes their story?

A spreading garden becomes a threat when other lives are treated as material for its growth. Zyra's account joins beauty to predation, giving the jungle's vitality an unsettling direction without requiring the needs or loyalties of a human society.

A catastrophe creates an unfamiliar life

Zyra emerged from a magical catastrophe in which plant life and a human-like form became something new. Her existence carries nature's growth without the comforting assumption that growth must benefit people.

Seeds and offspring expand the reach

Seeded offspring spread her reach, and other living creatures become resources or prey. What looks beautiful can be part of an expanding system that leaves little space for competing life.

A garden expands at other lives' expense

Zyra's offspring carry the same drive to grow into new ground. The beauty of the flowers does not make the spread benevolent or restore the person associated with her origin. Her story treats the boundary between plant life and human expectations as something unsettling rather than reassuring.

The story beneath the scenery

What makes this place matter?

Ixtal's apparent wilderness conceals a sophisticated elemental civilisation. Ixaocan and the Yun Tal offer a starting point for its institutions, while champions from the surrounding jungle reveal lives outside that ruling structure. These connections do not make every jungle inhabitant a citizen of the city.

Where the stories come from

VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

What the pictures show

Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.

A world still being written

Older biographies and newer adaptations can differ. These guides introduce connections rather than declaring a final chronology or a character's current whereabouts. Translations help you explore and may keep original proper names. Follow the official sources for full context.
