A past that shapes the present
History of the region
An ancient elemental civilisation protected itself through isolation and mastery of its environment. That security also shaped what its people were taught about the outside world. Qiyana's ambitions and Milio's journey reveal tensions between inherited authority, talent and the possibility of change.
The story beneath the scenery
What is at stake?
Ixtal's apparent wilderness conceals a sophisticated elemental civilisation. Ixaocan and the Yun Tal offer a starting point for its institutions, while champions from the surrounding jungle reveal lives outside that ruling structure. These connections do not make every jungle inhabitant a citizen of the city.

Ixaocan
Ixtal's hidden city joins architecture with elemental disciplines. Its cardinal arcology contains the Vidalion, where an initiate accepted into the Yun Tal receives magically woven garments.

Champions connected to this region
These are regional story connections, including origins and affiliations. They do not confirm where a character is now.
MalphiteTheir place in the wider story
Malphite survives as a shard of the Monolith, a vast creation made to oppose the Void. His beginning connects elemental ingenuity in ancient Ixtal with the catastrophe spreading from Icathia.
MilioTheir place in the wider story
Milio's warm approach to elemental magic produces soothing fire rather than another weapon. That discovery belongs to a family history shaped by exile and hopes of regaining a place within Ixtal's institutions.
NeekoTheir place in the wider story
Neeko comes from an ancient vastayan people whose connection to primordial magic gives appearance and emotion a different meaning. Losing that familiar community makes exploring other lives both necessary and deeply personal.
NidaleeTheir place in the wider story
Nidalee's childhood in the jungle ties her understanding of family and territory to the creatures that raised her. Human society is not the unquestioned centre of the world she knows.
QiyanaTheir place in the wider story
Qiyana grew up within Ixaocan's ruling family but far from the front of its succession. Exceptional elemental skill gave her a reason to challenge the place that birth order appeared to assign her.
RengarTheir place in the wider story
Rengar's Kiilash upbringing measured worth through hunting, while his small size made him an unwanted child in his father's eyes. Survival outside the tribe forced him to build his own idea of strength.
SkarnerTheir place in the wider story
Skarner belongs to Ixtal's ancient brackern history and its ruling Yun Tal. His protection of the hidden civilisation is rooted in a lifetime far longer than the human generations living above him.
ZyraTheir place in the wider story
Zyra emerged from a magical catastrophe in which plant life and a human-like form became something new. Her existence carries nature's growth without the comforting assumption that growth must benefit people.

Where the stories come from
VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.
What the pictures show
Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.
