The person behind the champion

A story to start with

Renekton is a terrifying, rage-fueled Ascended being from the scorched deserts of Shurima. Once, he was his empire's most esteemed warrior, leading the nation's armies to countless victories. However, after the empire's fall, Renekton was entombed beneath the sands, and slowly, as the world turned and changed, he succumbed to insanity. Now free once more, he is utterly consumed with finding and killing his brother, Nasus, who he blames, in his madness, for the centuries he spent in darkness.

Short biography by Riot Games · Data Dragon 16.20.1

What shapes their story?

The brother who helped protect Shurima becomes trapped within a history of sacrifice and manipulation. His hostility toward Nasus carries the damage of that confinement, making reunion a confrontation with a changed person rather than a simple restoration of family.

Brothers in the service of Shurima

Renekton's fierceness once served Shurima, with his older brother Nasus providing a very different kind of strength. Ascension made them extraordinary, but did not remove their family bond.

  2. XerathClassic champion artwork · Riot Games

    Sacrifice becomes captivity with Xerath

Sacrificing himself to contain Xerath left Renekton trapped with an enemy who could turn long imprisonment into psychological torment. Over time, the brother he had protected became the focus of his rage.

  3. Risen from the SandsRiot Games · World artwork

Freedom does not remove the prison's lies

Leaving the tomb returns Renekton to a world in which the brother he once loved is still alive. Xerath's manipulation has made that reunion a threat instead of a release. The continuing tragedy is that Nasus now represents the betrayal Renekton was taught to remember.

Where the stories come from

VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

What the pictures show

Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.
