More about this place and its region

Behind the name

The story of this place

The First Lands are Ionia's wider home, not another capital city. Local traditions, living landscapes and spiritual relationships developed across its islands. Invasion placed those traditions under pressure, leaving Irelia's resistance and the Kinkou's duties as different responses to the same wounded homeland.

Part of a larger world

Ionia

Ionia's spiritual balance is not a single shared answer. The Noxian invasion forces champions to disagree about tradition, resistance and revenge. The Placidium offers a starting point for Irelia's resistance; the Kinkou opens a different path through Shen and Akali's stories.

Stories connected to this place

These connections include origins, pivotal events and the wider culture of the setting. They do not confirm a character's current location.

AhriAhri

How their story connects

Learning about her ancestry does not erase the lives and emotions Ahri has consumed. Her journey becomes a search for a way to live with others without reducing them to sustenance, while deciding which memories and choices will belong to her.

HweiHwei

How their story connects

Hwei's search for Jhin brings him toward the person who made creation and destruction inseparable in his memories. He must decide what his own art will offer those who suffer. Compassion and disturbing fascination remain competing possibilities rather than a simple answer delivered by revenge.

Follow their place connectionsKoyehnThe temple was Hwei's artistic home before its destruction. His memories of Jhin's visit shape the questions he carries beyond the island.
IvernIvern

How their story connects

Ivern's wandering reverses the purpose of his former violence: he listens to and nurtures living things instead of claiming them. Friendships with woodland creatures make that change practical. His gentleness matters because it answers a destructive past, rather than because he has never understood cruelty.

Follow their place connectionsOmikayalanIvern attacked the sacred grove in his mortal life. His transformation there changed a conqueror into a protector of living things.
JhinJhin

How their story connects

Jhin's patrons can use the terror he creates, but the victims and survivors pay the cost of his compositions. Hwei's experience shows why artistic language cannot make that harm abstract. Investigators such as Shen and Zed encounter a criminal whose obsession survives ordinary explanations of motive.

Follow their place connectionsKoyehnJhin visited the conservatory where Hwei trained. That encounter and the temple's destruction place their opposing ideas of art in direct conflict.
KarmaKarma

How their story connects

Carrying earlier lives does not remove the need for Karma's living incarnation to decide how to answer violence. The Noxian invasion makes spiritual restraint a contested responsibility. Guidance must address people suffering now, while preserving a relationship with the wisdom that came before them.

LilliaLillia

How their story connects

Leaving the forest lets Lillia encounter the fears behind dreams rather than only their distant impressions. Comforting others requires her own courage. Her journey connects the Dreaming Tree's wellbeing to people who may never understand how closely their hopes and its survival are linked.

Follow their place connectionsOmikayalanThe Dreaming Tree in Lillia's biography descends from the God-Willow's legacy. This is a sacred lineage connection, rather than a claim of residence in the grove.
WukongWukong

How their story connects

The staff and name Wukong recognise a commitment to Yi's teaching, rather than the end of learning. Cunning remains useful when guided by discipline. Their companionship gives the surviving master a future for Wuju and gives the former challenger a purpose beyond proving himself.

RakanRakan

How their story connects

Rakan's commitment to Xayah asks him to spend his gifts on a threatened people rather than applause alone. He does not simply adopt her temperament: warmth and improvisation remain part of what he contributes. Their bond joins shared resistance to a relationship between distinct personalities.

RivenRiven

How their story connects

Learning her role in Elder Souma's death connects Riven's remorse to Yasuo's exile and Yone's death. Facing that truth is different from being able to repair it. Her efforts to live beyond Noxian service remain shaped by people whose losses intersect with her own choices.

SettSett

How their story connects

Control of the fighting pits gives Sett wealth and authority that his childhood never promised. His devotion to his mother remains central, even as he conceals the source of that success from her. Power over an arena does not settle the family hurt that first drew him toward it.

SyndraSyndra

How their story connects

Breaking her teacher's restraint gives Syndra access to the power others feared, without giving her reason to trust their guidance. Her anger turns control itself into an enemy. The floating fortress makes separation visible, while the question of responsibility remains larger than the institution she escaped.

VarusVarus

How their story connects

Valmar and Kai do not disappear when the Darkin takes a body through them. Their bond gives resistance an emotional force the weapon cannot simply dismiss. The resulting existence places revenge beside the possibility that the mortal people within it can change the direction of an ancient will.

Follow their place connectionsPallasThe temple above the village held Varus's bow. Valmar's attempt to save Kai brought their lives into conflict with the Darkin imprisoned within it.
XayahXayah

How their story connects

Xayah's precise and guarded approach protects a cause she cannot afford to treat lightly. Rakan's companionship asks her to make room for someone whose strengths look different. Their shared commitment to the vastaya survives through that difference, rather than requiring them to become interchangeable fighters.

YasuoYasuo

How their story connects

Knowing the truth about Souma does not restore Yone or undo Yasuo's decision to leave his post. His story continues through encounters and teaching beyond the original pursuit. The burden becomes how to live with responsibility, rather than how to win an argument that he was never the killer.

YoneYone

How their story connects

Hunting azakana gives Yone a way to investigate what the mask has made him. Meeting the living world again does not simply return him to his former duties or his brother's understanding of events. The continuing search is for knowledge as much as another enemy to defeat.

YunaraYunara

How their story connects

Yunara's return makes disciplined service to Ionia a task in an unfamiliar present. The Aion Er'na carries the purpose preserved through her seclusion. The official overview establishes that return and devotion, but does not provide a dated account of every century spent beyond the material world.

Where the stories come from

VRC.LOL writes the introductions, reading notes and connections using linked Riot Universe biographies and regional guides. Short champion summaries use Data Dragon version 16.20.1. Longer histories link to the official story used; some champions currently have a shorter official overview.

What the pictures show

Artwork belongs to Riot Games. Scenery comes from Riot's Runeterra world map; champion art depicts the character. A regional illustration sets the scene when a landmark has no dedicated image. It does not show a confirmed event at that exact place.

A world still being written

Older biographies and newer adaptations can differ. These guides introduce connections rather than declaring a final chronology or a character's current whereabouts. Translations help you explore and may keep original proper names. Follow the official sources for full context.
