Champion experience, clearly explained
Champion mastery keeps climbing after level 10
Play a champion to earn mastery score. Complete that champion's milestones to earn Marks of Mastery. When both requirements are ready, the mastery level rises and the crest develops.
The direct answer
Uncapped levels use a number, not a brand-new crest each time
Level 10 is the last unique crest design. Starting at level 11, League keeps that crest and adds the player's actual mastery level to the presentation. Level 11, 25 and 100 therefore share the same base artwork.
25Level 25: same level-10 crest, with 25 shown as the scaling mastery level.

Every champion mastery crest stage
Levels 1–3 build score without a visible mastery crest. Level 4 is the first crest; levels 5–10 each have their own artwork. Beyond 10, the number scales rather than adding a new crest design for every level.
1-3Learning the champion
Mastery score begins immediately, but the first visible crest arrives at level 4.
4First crest
The first visible mastery crest. No Mark of Mastery is required for levels 1 through 4.
5Proven progress
From level 5, score alone is no longer enough. Earn the required Mark through champion milestones.
6Growing experience
A new crest records another completed score-and-milestone step on this champion.
7Established experience
Level 7 is still meaningful, but it is no longer the end of champion mastery.
8Advanced crest
Continue earning champion score and one Mark for the next level.
9Final one-Mark level
This is the last level in the one-Mark band before the level-10 crest.
10+Uncapped mastery
Level 10 unlocks the highest crest design. The displayed level can keep climbing beyond 10.
Two progress tracks
A level needs experience, and later levels need accomplishments
The client shows the exact score target for the next level. Marks come from completing the champion's milestone requirements.
Mastery score only
No Marks requiredPlay the champion and build score. Better post-game grades award more score.
Score plus one Mark
1 Mark per levelReach the score requirement and complete enough milestone work to supply one Mark for each level.
Score plus two Marks
2 Marks per levelThe crest reaches its final design at 10, but score and Marks can keep increasing the displayed number.
Mastery score keeps recording play on the champion. The mastery level advances only when the score requirement and any required Marks are both satisfied.
Marks of Mastery
Milestones turn strong games into level progress
Each champion has a milestone track. It asks for post-game grades across several games and awards Marks used for mastery levels. Open Collection → Champions → Mastery in the League client to see the current targets for that champion.
- 1Choose the championEvery champion keeps a separate score, level and milestone record.
- 2Play qualifying gamesYour post-game grade advances the milestone when it meets the target shown in the client.
- 3Collect the MarkThe Mark becomes level-up material once the required mastery score is also ready.
Read the number correctly
What champion mastery tells you, and what it does not
It shows champion-specific time and milestones
A higher number reflects accumulated experience and completed mastery requirements on that champion.
It is not ranked skill or a win prediction
Mastery does not reveal rank, current form, matchup knowledge, role suitability or the likely result of a game.
It belongs to one champion
Progress on Blitzcrank does not level another champion. Every champion has an independent mastery record.
It does not certify every lane
A mastery level follows the champion, not a particular role. Use role and matchup guidance separately.
Where the symbols appear
One mastery record, several client presentations
The client can use a large crest, a compact icon, an emote presentation or a loading-screen number. They all refer to the same champion-specific mastery record.
Collection and profileFull crestThe larger artwork makes the current crest stage easy to recognise.
Compact surfacesMini iconA smaller asset is used where the full crest would not fit.
42The number communicates progress after the final crest design.
