Stuns, roots and forced actions can stop a plan outright, but they do not all block the same inputs.

Control is not one rule
Different effects stop different actions. The label matters when choosing positioning, Cleanse, tenacity or a spell shield.
Slows and attack-speed reductions leave choices available while making movement or attacks less effective.
Shields, spell shields, invulnerability and cleanses answer different parts of incoming pressure.
Stealth hides a champion; reveal and true sight can expose a target or an area.

What can you still do?
Use this as a general control check. Champion-specific immunity, unstoppable casts and ability exceptions can change an interaction.

Choose the right answer
Read the mechanic before reacting
Counterplay starts before an effect lands. Identify the mechanic, then compare the tools that can actually help.
Position and track
Watch the important ability, its range and the space needed to avoid it. The safest answer is often not being hit.
Spell shield or immunity
Use an eligible defensive tool before the incoming ability connects. It does not make every later effect harmless.
Tenacity
Tenacity can shorten many disables, but it is not a universal answer. Airborne effects and other exceptions need separate planning.
Cleanse
The summoner spell removes many control effects after they land, but normally not airborne effects or suppression.

Quick answers
Status-effect questions
Short answers for the mechanics people most often mix together.
01What is the difference between a stun and a root in League of Legends?+
A stun prevents movement, basic attacks and ability casts. A root stops movement, but basic attacks and many abilities usually remain available.
02Does Cleanse remove airborne effects or suppression?+
The Cleanse summoner spell does not normally remove airborne effects or suppression. Champion abilities and other removal effects can follow different rules.
03Does tenacity reduce every crowd-control effect?+
No. Tenacity shortens many control effects, but important exceptions remain. Check the current in-game tooltip before choosing it as the answer to a specific champion.
04How can I find every status effect used by one champion?+
Use the champion index on this page. It lists the ability key, ability name and indexed control, protection, sustain or information effect for every champion.
